RedMum has launched a brilliant campaign to try and get Harney to reverse her ridiculous decision to withdraw the proposed HPV vaccination programme. For those who aren’t aware, HPV can cause cervical cancer, and vaccinating young women against this virus is a proven way of reducing the cervical cancer incidence rate. “Preventing cancer”, I hear you say – “what a wonderful idea!”. And it is, which is what makes this withdrawal so astonishingly stupid.
Anyway, RedMum is encouraging anyone with daughters so send pictures of them to Minister Harney to show her all the young girls who are being prevented from accessing this life-saving vaccine.
Pictures and/or comments should be sent to minister’s_office@health.irlgov.ie – we know the Government has been shown to be willing to back down in the face of public opposition after recent events, and this is another shocking Government action that needs to be overturned. The Ray D’Arcy show on Today FM also have set-up a webpage which allows automated emails to be sent to the Minister.
